Cat eye nails

A magnet held over the wet gel pulls the shimmer into a band, and moving the magnet moves the band. That is the whole trick, and it is why no two cat eye sets look alike. Twenty-four of them below.

Design ideas: these are generated references for a style. None of them shows a KuQueen session, and we do not publish a client’s nails without asking her first.

The colour underneath decides how loud the band reads. A dark base makes the band look like a slash of light, which is the effect most people mean when they ask for cat eye. On a pale base the same magnet gives a soft glow, and the rose and champagne sets here show what that looks like.

The band is placed, so say where you want it. Straight down the middle is the usual one. A diagonal band across the nail reads sharper and suits a long coffin. Two parallel bands is a different look again and needs a stronger magnet, which your technician brings.

Cat eye gel is a gel like any other, so it lasts as long as your usual set and comes off the same way. It works on your own nails and on extensions, and it takes a minute longer per nail because each one is magnetised while it is still wet.
