Red is the shade most people ask for by name and then hesitate over, because a red that suits one hand can look wrong on the next. The cool blue-reds sit well on lighter mestiza skin. The warm oranged reds and the brick tones sit well on morena skin, which is why several of the sets below lean warm.
Finish changes a red more than the shade does. The same pigment reads glossy and loud, matte and quiet, or metallic under chrome powder, and a sheer wash of it hardly reads as color at all. Several here are the same family of red in different finishes.
Length changes it again. A true red on a short round nail is tidy and goes to work on a Monday. The same red on a long coffin is an evening. If you are having extensions the shape is chosen first and the color follows it, which the shape guide goes through.
