Almond nails

Almond is a shape rather than a colour, so this page is about the shape: the sides taper and the free edge comes to a soft rounded peak. Twenty-four of them below, short, medium and long, because the length changes it more than the colour does.

Design ideas: these are generated references for a style. None of them shows a KuQueen session, and we do not publish a client’s nails without asking her first.

The taper is what almond is for. Narrowing the sides makes the nail bed look longer and draws the eye along the finger rather than across it, which is the same reason it suits a wide nail bed and a short finger. That is also why it flatters most hands without needing length.

It does not have to be long, and that is the part people get wrong. A short almond works as long as there is enough nail bed to taper into; below that the peak has nowhere to happen and the shape reads as an oval instead. Three of the sets here are short and they are still unmistakably almond.

Almond is not oval and it is not stiletto. An oval is rounded with no point at all. A stiletto keeps tapering to a sharp tip and is far more likely to catch and snap. Almond sits between them, which is why it is the shape most people end up on. The shape guide goes through all of them side by side.
