Most autumn sets are one deep colour, which is why they look classy with no art at all. Burnt orange, terracotta, mustard and olive are warm shades, and on brown skin they sit close to the hand instead of fighting it. Plum, cherry mocha and chocolate read almost black from across a room and show their red or brown up close.
If you want a design, keep it to one or two nails. A tortoiseshell accent, a small painted leaf or one plaid nail on a plain set looks finished. A full set of art suits a party better than a working week.
These colours also carry you from October into the Christmas parties. A matte terracotta or a deep teal does not look seasonal in December the way a pumpkin does, so it is the practical pick if you are booking one set to cover both.
